Where to begin... The coloring came out very smooth, and looks quite natural (particularly on the face, the hair, and the flower) however I must say that, even though this might have been in the original design (I dunno), the blue is very jarring from the rest of the color scheme. Green and yellow are much softer, much warmer, and this blue is so defined and saturated and thoroughly cold that it really throws you off. Now, as I said, that's probably how the design was originally (you know I'm no good with older FFs.. Terra's design is coming to mind more than anything, but IIRC Rydia had more of a green and pink sort of scheme? Please correct me if I'm wrong because I probably am XD), but it still does affect the picture. But other than that, I like the coloring. The shading is soft and hard where it needs to be, the hair is just about the most gorgeous thing ever, and the shadow choice on the face and collar is just perfect.
As for the pose, it's pretty cute and does seem to fit Rydia, but it came out a little too stiff I think. Even for a "standing tall" kind of pose her legs look a little too rigid. I would suggest adding more of a curve to her legs to imply locked knees and a sense of (at least a little) distance between each leg. From dead-on those legs would be perfect, but different angles call for different shapes. Her right arm seems to make her shoulders look stiff as well, despite the slope of the left shoulder clearly saying otherwise. I would suggest placing the arm a little further back, since after all the socket is located closer to the middle of the torso rather than the very front. Her arms and torso are very shapely, though, which is a very nice thing to see. :3 Sooo many people love SAUSAGE ARMS and.. and that's just freaky. And as ped as I am for mentioning this, her breasts are drawn quite well. It's often tricky to draw shallow breasts, but you captured the shape and position just right.
And finally, the line work is as beautiful as always~ You have a knack for adding just the right amount of weight to each line, which really brings out the details-- both harsh and soft. It's a talent of yours that I envy very much and will likely never learn. XD;
On that note, there are quite a few fine details in this picture, which is something I like to see. Other than all the Amano artwork (which is arguably too detailed sometimes), it's very hard to get references of these older FF characters, so a lot of these details have to come out of nowhere. I find that a lot of artists [citation needed] lulz will simplify these outfits because they're trying to match the look of the sprites exactly, and that makes for some boring outfits. But you made her look all your own, and it turned out for the better IMO.
SOME PARTS OF THIS MAY SOUND CONTRARY, but I do really like this. I just wanted to point out some things, since you did ask. :3
